Among the most captivating places and attractions on this tour are the legendary Chuysky Tract, the vast Kuray Steppe, the mighty Yenisey River, the Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydroelectric Plant, the Sayan Mountains of Tuva and Khakassia, and, of course, a fascinating glimpse into Mongolia. Prepare to be captivated by breathtaking roads, majestic mountains, and winding serpentines.

This tour includes one day of off-road riding, covering approximately 250 km, but overall, mainly it's an asphalt-based tour.

Route:

Novosibirsk – Manzherok – Kosh Agach – Ulgiy – Khovd – Ulaangom – Kyzyl – Sayanogorsk – Abakan – Krasnoyarsk – Tomsk – Novosibirsk

Day 1. Novosibirsk, Arrival

Arrive in Novosibirsk and transfer to the hotel. At 17:00 we have a tour briefing, sign documents, receive motorcycles and after go for a group dinner.

Please plan your logistics to arrive at the hotel before 15:00 to visit tour kick-off.

Day 2. Novosibirsk – Manzherok, 470 km

On our first riding day we head to Manzherok, modern resort on Siberia, that was founded few years ago. There is the world's most modern cable car, stretching 2.5 kilometers up Mount Malaya Sinyukha, offering stunning views of the surrounding area and the Katun River.

Day 3. Manzherok – Kosh Agach, 420 km

Today we enjoy Chiya Highway or "Chuysky Tract". It goes for 964 km from Barnaul all the way to the Mongolian border and we will ride all of it. In 2014, National Geographic included it in their list of the ten most beautiful roads in the world. During the day we admire fantastic views and enjoy great riding. 

Day 4. Kosh Agach – Ulgii, 170 km

We cross the border into Mongolia, the Nomad Lands country. Our overnight stay will be in the town of Ulgii, the highest-altitude city in the country, inhabited 93% by Mongolian Kazakhs. The town lies in a river valley surrounded by mountain ranges that reach up to 3,000 meters.

Day 5. Ulgii – Khovd, 225 km

Today we’ll ride on a newly constructed asphalt road to the next town, Khovd. Between these two towns, we’ll encounter only small settlements of yurts, herds of sheep, camels, and yaks.

We’ll stop by Tolbo Lake, where the bravest among us can take a dip. The lake is fed by glacial water, so even in summer, it remains quite chilly. We’ll also get acquainted with authentic Mongolian cuisine, where portions are generous and the dishes are predominantly meat-based.

Day 6. Khovd, Rest Day

Khovd is one of Mongolia’s oldest cities. Today, we’ll take a break from riding, stroll through the streets, and visit one of the most colorful local attractions – the Gandan Puntsag Choilin Monastery complex, surrounded by 108 Buddhist stupas.

Day 7. Khovd – Ulaangom, 440 km

We set off towards Ulaangom, spending most of the day on gravel roads. These are generally well-packed, and dry conditions allow for smooth travel. The road is almost devoid of traffic – it’s just us, the steppe, lakes, and grazing herds.

Day 8. Ulaangom – Kyzyl, 440 km

Today we return to Russia. We’ll spend the night in the capital of the Republic of Tuva, Kyzyl. This city is home to the geographical center of Asia, marked by a monument at this very point. Kyzyl is a relatively young city, celebrating its centennial in 2014. 

Day 9. Kyzyl – Sayanogorsk, 410 km

We leave Tuva and go to the Republic of Khakasia. Along the way we visit the village of Shushenskoye, the exile location of the leader of the world revolution, Lenin. It is now an open-air museum-reserve. Here, we’ll experience what life was like in a Siberian village at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries and learn about the daily life of Khakasian backcountry.

Day 10. Sayanogorsk – Abakan, 160/280 km

In the morning we’ll take a scenic route along the Yenisey River to reach Russia’s most powerful power station, the Sayano-Shushenskaya Hydroelectric Plant. The dam's construction has no analogues in the world. The dam's crest stretches over a one kilometer, and its height exceeds 240 meters. The amount of concrete used in its construction could build a four-lane highway from Saint Petersburg to Vladivostok (10 000 km) or pave a path from Earth to the Moon.

The dam holds back 32 billion tons of water every second. For safety, the plant has two spillways, which together can discharge up to 17,000 tons of water per second, equivalent to the force of three Niagara Falls.

Next, we head to Abakan, the capital of Khakasia. It’s a small city, but it boasts a rich history. Officially, Abakan was founded in 1931 when the village of Ust-Abakanskoye was granted city status and renamed Abakan. However, chronicles indicate it has existed since at least 1675.

Day 11. Abakan – Krasnoyarsk, 420 km

Today, we’re headed to Krasnoyarsk, the capital of Krasnoyarsk Krai, the largest business, industrial, and cultural center of Eastern Siberia. On the way, we’ll stop at the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Plant to compare it with the one we visited earlier. The image of the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Plant is featured on the reverse side of the 10-ruble banknote issued in 1997.

Day 12. Krasnoyarsk, rest day

We use this day to explore local attractions. We’ll visit the Stolby National Park, renowned for its stunning and diverse landscapes and unique Siberian nature. Krasnoyarsk is a beautiful and fascinating city with scenic viewpoints, numerous fountains, and many other attractions.

Day 13. Krasnoyarsk – Tomsk, 600 km

Our longest riding day, so we’ll depart early. Tomsk is an ancient city, a century older than Saint Petersburg. It’s famous for its well-preserved wooden architecture and historic merchant houses. We’ll try not to linger along the way to have time for an evening stroll through the city.

Day 14. Tomsk – Novosibirsk, 280 km
We return to our starting point, Novosibirsk, where we’ll have a farewell dinner, reflect on the adventure, and perhaps start planning our next journey.

Day 15. Novosibirsk, departure

Departure from Novosibirsk
