Route
Moscow – Kostroma – Kirov – Izhevsk – Kungur – Nizhny Tagil – Irbit – Tyumen – Tobolsk – Ishim – Omsk – Novosibirsk
Day 1. Moscow – Kostroma, 425 km
We begin our journey by heading through Sergiev Posad, where we’ll visit the famous Trinity Lavra of St. Sergius. From there, we continue through Pereslavl-Zalessky toward Lake Pleshcheyevo. We’ll stop to see the unique Blue Stone and visit the Iron Museum or the Teapot Museum. Our route then takes us through Rostov Veliky, where we’ll explore the Kremlin with its ancient cathedrals and enjoy views of Lake Nero.
Next, we head to Plyos, passing picturesque villages and scenic landscapes. In Plyos, we’ll climb Sobornaya Hill and visit the Isaac Levitan Museum. The day concludes in Kostroma, where we’ll explore Susanin Square, the Epiphany Monastery, and the Ipatiev Monastery, immersing ourselves in the rich history of the Golden Ring.
Day 2. Kostroma – Kirov, 620 km
This is the longest stretch of the tour. From Kostroma to Kirov, we’ll pass through Galich to see Galich Lake, then Chukhloma with its John the Apostle Monastery. We’ll stop in Soligalich, known for its wooden churches and mineral springs, and continue to Kologriv to visit the Nature Museum and admire the untouched forests.
The journey takes us through the scenic villages and woods of Vyatka. In Kirov, we’ll end the day with a stroll along the Vyatka River embankment, visit the Vasnetsov Museum, and see the Trifonov Monastery, experiencing the natural beauty and charm of provincial Russia.
Day 3. Kirov – Izhevsk, 425 km
Today, we travel from Kirov to Izhevsk, passing through Yaransk, where we’ll visit the Trinity Cathedral and admire merchant houses with views of the Vyatka River. The route continues through Vavozh, with serene villages and forests.
In Izhevsk, we’ll settle in and take a walk along the Izh River embankment, visiting the iconic "Friendship of Peoples" monument.
Day 4. Izhevsk – Kungur, 400 km
Our journey takes us through Sarapul, a historic town on the Kama River. Here, we’ll stop for a stroll along the promenade and visit the Sarapul Museum-Reserve. Next, we’ll pass through the village of Karakulino, enjoying views of the Kama River, and stop for lunch in Yelovo, a cozy settlement with beautiful surroundings.
Onward to Orda, renowned for its unique underwater Orda Cave, the world’s largest gypsum cave. We finish the day in Kungur, where we’ll explore the famous Kungur Ice Cave and the charming old town with its streets and churches.
Day 5. Rest Day in Kungur
Take the day to explore the Kungur Ice Cave and enjoy the views from the observation deck. Stroll through Sobornaya Square, with its Trinity Cathedral and historic merchant houses on Lenin Street. Visit the local history museum and end the day with a walk along the Sylva River embankment or in Ermak Park. Don’t miss the chance to try local dumplings and Ural cuisine.
Day 6. Kungur – Nizhny Tagil, 350 km
We travel to Nizhny Tagil via Krasnoufimsk, where we’ll explore the historic town center with scenic views of the Ufa River and visit the local history museum.
Onward through Achit and Kushva, we’ll stop at observation points with stunning views of the Ural Mountains. Before reaching Nizhny Tagil, we’ll visit the Chernoistochinsk Pond, known for its picturesque nature. The day ends with a visit to Lisya Mountain for panoramic views.
Day 7. Nizhny Tagil – Irbit – Tyumen, 440 km
A long ride to Tyumen via Irbit, where we’ll visit the renowned Irbit Motorcycle Museum, one of Russia’s largest, and the Museum of Fine Arts with its unique collections. We’ll also walk through Irbit’s historic merchant district.
Continuing through Artyomovsky and Tabory, we’ll take a photo stop by the Tura River. After settling into our hotel in Tyumen, we’ll wrap up the day with a walk along the Tura River embankment and explore the city’s historic center.
Day 8. Tyumen – Tobolsk, 250 km
We head to Tobolsk via Sorokino and Vagay. In Tyukalinsk, we’ll visit the local museum and historic buildings. The day concludes with a visit to the Tobolsk Kremlin.
Day 9. Rest Day in Tobolsk
Start the day at the Tobolsk Kremlin and its panoramic viewing platform overlooking the Irtysh River. Visit the Museum of the Romanov Family and the Prison Castle to delve into the city’s rich history. End the day with a stroll along the Irtysh River embankment and dinner featuring Siberian cuisine.
Day 10. Tobolsk – Ishim, 360 km
Taking secondary roads, we stop at the village of Pokrovskoye to visit the Grigory Rasputin Museum and enjoy the views of rural Siberia. Near Ishim, we’ll stop in Ershovo to see its churches.
In Ishim, we’ll explore the town center with its merchant houses and visit the Museum of Pyotr Ershov, author of The Little Humpbacked Horse.
Day 11. Ishim – Omsk, 340 km
The route passes through villages and small settlements along the Ishim River, showcasing the beauty of Siberian steppes and forests. We continue through the Yurginsky District, passing quiet Siberian villages with traditional wooden architecture.
In Omsk, we’ll end the day with a walk along the Irtysh River embankment, visit the Omsk Fortress, and the Dostoevsky Museum.
Day 12. Omsk – Novosibirsk, 640 km
Our final stretch leads to Novosibirsk via Kalachinsk and Cherepanovo. Along the way, we’ll stop at the Om River and Bolotnoye to see historic churches.
In Novosibirsk, we conclude the tour with a walk along the Ob River embankment and a celebratory dinner in a cozy restaurant.
