Moscow-Elbrus-Volgograd: the Highest Mountain in Europe, the Largest Battle of the Second World War and a bit of Golden Ring

This tour offers you a unique chance to Explore the best of the South Part of Russia. We start in Moscow with city tour and more to the south passing vast agricultural regions with large and small farms, local home-made food, rivers and forests, fields and steppes. In a few riding days we will reach Caucas Mountains with nice serpentine roads and Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe. We stay in the hotels at 1500-2300 meters high, going in the cabin to the 3800 meters peaks. Finally in the third part of our tour  we ride to Volgograd (Stalingrad), the place where largest in the world history battle took place - the Stalingrad Battle. Here we touch history and enjoy Volga River, one of the biggest rivers in Europe


Must ride tour for those who loves Mountains and History. In this tour we touch both of this and plenty more. After first day city tour in Moscow we go to the agricultural regions of Russia with small estates and large farms, with eco-hotels and big cities (like Rostov).We will short you how people live and how they harvest food in Voronezh, Rostov, Krasnodar regions. After that we go to the Caucasus Mountains, the highest in Europe and we spend several days there, getting to the peaks, riding roads with turns and curves, tasking local lamb with potatoes and vegetables. From here we go to Volgograd, city that is full of history. It is located on the banks of the Volga River and we'll have a rest day here to enjoy both, history and rest on the Volga

Itinerary

Day 1. Moscow Arrival

Transfer to the hotel, getting bikes, signing papers, rest and welcome dinner. Small walk around the city.

Day 2. Moscow city tour

Half day walking tour plus small preparations for the tour, exchange cash, buy local sim card, pack luggage and other staff. Team dinner in the evening.

Day 3. Moscow – Elets, 440 km

First riding day we explore small villages and rural areas. With plenty of stops and after visiting several places of interest we arrive to Skornyakovo, old private estate that today offers small number of rooms to stay in. Here you will taste Russian cuisine and enjoy real nature. 

Day 4. Elets – Rostov, 680 km

Rostov is a big city, located on the Don river. After long riding day we will go to one of the best city restaurants to taste local crabs and beer. After short city walk can be arranged to enjoy the city.

Day 5. Rostov – Dombay, 600 km

Another pretty long riding day. Today we reach mountains and serpentine roads will begin. We also pass through several regions and you will see how they differ one from another. Our hotel today is located in 1500 meters high in the mountains. After long riding day we go to russian banya and enjoy local wine with lamb. 

Day 6. Dombay - Elbrus, 360 km

In the morning if the weather is good we will go to Dombay peaks and after we head on to Elbrus. On the way we make a stop for lunch at our friends house is a small village. You will see how local people live and taste real home made food. When we reach Elbrus we check in at the hotel on the 2300 meter height. We will stay here for two days.

Day 7. Elbrus, rest day

Excursion to the peak and several places around. Free time in the evening. 

 

Day 8. Elbrus - Elista, 500 km

Today we go to Elista, the Buddhist region of Russia. Landscape will be mostly steppes and even deserts with almost no grass and trees. Local food is 90% meat with horse meat and side dishes.   

Day 9. Elista - Volgograd,  290 km

Short ride to the Volgograd, one of the most interesting cities of Russia. In the evening we will visit several places and museum of the Second World War. Tomorrow we will continue with boat tour and more city sights.

Day 10. Volgograd, day off

Half day excursions and boat tour along the Volga river, after fee time. You can have rest or together with us go to the public beach.

Day 11. Volgograd - Tambov, 530 km

Long riding day to the small agricultural city. Free time in the evening.

Day 12. Tambov - Murom, 380 km

During last days we will visit several cities of the Golden Ring and we will tell you some interesting facts about them. Murom is one of such cities, will old Kremlin and many other ancient buildings its one of most interesting cities of the Golden Ring. 

Day 13. Murom - Moscow, 370 km

Last day of our tour, we arrive to Moscow and have a farewell dinner.
