Route: where we would go

Moscow – Velikiy Novgorod – Lamberg (Valaam) – Kem (Solovki) – Petrozavodsk – Kizhi – Valday – Moscow

Day 1. Moscow – Velikiy Novgorod, 670 km

We take off from Moscow at 8 a.m. Our first stop in the morning is in Savvino-Storozhevskiy monastery in Zvenigorod. If you’re not afraid, you can swim in icy water. Have local pastry and drink local kvas in there and then take secondary roads via Rzhev and to Novgorod Velikiy (The Great).

Day 2. Novgorod – Sortavala, 470 km

In the morning we visit Novgorod Kremlin (made from white bricks), and then we set off to Luga and Kronshtadt. Yet it’s close to St. Pete, we will not stop by there. So if you wish to visit Petersburg-Leningrad, join our other tours. But today via Kronshtadt we go to Sortavala. Here we will go to Russian bath and swim in the lake.

Day 3. Sortavala

This day we spent on Valaam, a monastery situated on the island. Brother Kirill will walk us around and tell us about this place. In the evening we get back to the hotel and have a dinner at the lake shore.

Day 4. Sortavala – Kem, 700 km

We start early in the morning and go north via empty and beautiful roads. By the evening we reach the White sea, check-in to the hotel, have some rest and a walking tour.

Day 5. Solovetskiy monastery

Day 6. One more day at Solovetskiy monastery

We wander around islands, have guided tours on foot and boat, have a chance to talk to monks, meditate and relax.

Day 7. Kem – Petrozavodsk – Kizhi,  410 km

We’re back from islands and set off to Petrozavodsk. The plan is to visit museum of Belomorkanal and Pertoglifs, and then we discover Kizhi, a unique museum under the sky, an island and wooden buildings without any single nail in them.

Day 8. Petrozavodsk – Valday, 640 km

A guided tour to Valaam island, which is well-known by its monastery, one of the oldest in Russia. It was built in XV century. It’s famous for many-many important things in Russian history, and we’ll have a chance to hear all of them.

Day 9. A way to Moscow, 400 km

We come back to Moscow via Torzhok, Tver and Klin. We visit Borisoglebskiy monastery, Ekaterina’s Palace and Tchaikovskiy’s Museum.
