Route: where we would go

Moscow – Suzdal – Ples – Yaroslavl – Valday – Seliger – Moscow

Day 1. Moscow – Suzdal, 300 km

We avoid a big state road and take Schelkovskoye highway to go to Suzdal via lots of small interesting towns, including Kolchugino and Yuriev-Polskiy. Upon arrival we check in a private guest house, leave the motorcycles and go for a walk. It’s peaceful and quite here in the evening, when the majority of tourists leave the town. Later we go to the Russian bath and try home-made food.

Day 2. Suzdal – Ples – Yaroslavl, 300 km

In the morning we go to Ples. We’ll take a boat tour on Volga, will see Medvedev’s summer house, walk to the ancient wooden church. We will also visit Levitan’s museum and try local smoked fish. Next we go to Yaroslavl via Kostroma. After checking-in we go to the city center, which was rebuild a couple years ago as the city celebrated its 1,000th birthday.

Day 3. Yaroslavl – Uglich – Tver – Valday, 530 km

Today we go to Valday, trying to avoid big and bad roads as much as possible. After a long riding we will relax in Russian bath, swim in the lake and drink local beer.

Day 4. Valday, 100 km

Today we leave all our belongings in the hotel and discover the places around Valday. First stop is Iverskiy men monastery, one of the most well-known in Russia. It was built in 1653 by Nikon. Next we will look for old military bases and wellsprings with mineral water.

Day 5. Valday, 100-200 km

Another relaxed day on Valday. We will go shortly to Novgorod the Great, Staraya Rusa and Demyansk. There we will visit the WWII museum and hear some fascinating stories.

Day 6. Valday – Seliger,  230 km

Seliger is not just one lake, but several lakes together, situated in Tver and Novgorod areas. Today we go there and see the origins of Volga river and Nilova Pustyn.

Day 7. Seliger – Moscow, 370 km

We go back to the capital via Rzhev, Ruza and Zvenigorod. We will have a chance to swim and drink local kvas in Savvino-Storozhevskiy Monastery.
